JULIA LEDERER

Julia is an internationally-acclaimed writer from Toronto, Canada. Her plays have been produced all over North America and in Europe: in Los Angeles, New York, Boise, Alaska, Vancouver, Toronto, Paris, etc. In Chicago: Reality Theatre (Trap Door Theatre); With Love and a Major Organ (Strawdog Theatre). Julia’s work has been described as, “brash, poetic, and fiercely original” (NOW Toronto); “laced with sophisticated poetry and wry insight” (LA Times); and as “ris[ing] to a rare level of universal truth, all while making us laugh. A lot.” (NewCity Stage). Film: Julia’s short films have been selections at over 30 festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival, and can be found streaming on Omeleto and CBC Gem. Her first feature film, an adaptation of her play, With Love and a Major Organ, is currently in production. TV: Kim’s Convenience (CBC: emerging writers room);  Safe Space (original pilot), is in development with Sharp House (UK).
