Filament brings an expansive, freewheeling, new folk musical adaptation of this beloved story to their Northwest side Chicago stage! Six actors playing a menagerie of instruments will lead you from Geppetto’s wood shop through the land of toys, into the belly of a shark, and home again on a journey to learn what it is to be real.

Filament’s folk aesthetic will delight adults and children alike! (Recommended 4+)

The run time is about 1 hour.

A note from the Adaptor:
Pinocchio - tyler beattie

Pinocchio Adaptor & Composer, Tyler Beattie

“Pinocchio is at first glance a sprawling adventure, with magical creatures and journeys into wonderful and strange situations– and yet at its core what makes this story endure is the way it explorers the love of family, and the challenges and many pitfalls we encounter when we are growing up. Pinocchio is great for kids– but really it is for adults who remember how hard it was to grow up, or wonder if they ever really did.” – Tyler Beattie

Audiences Responses:
“Wonderfully talented actor-singer-musicians presented a great morality tale for kids and adults, alike.” – Audience Member

“Took a 5 year-old to see the musical production of Pinocchio at Filament. She had never been to a play and this small, informal setting turned out to be the perfect introduction to live theater. Kids can sit on quilts and pillows on the floor and eat popcorn during the play while adults are comfortably seated in chairs. Not once during the 65 minute production did her attention wander from the actors. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience – the musical numbers are amazing – and would recommend it for children 4 and up.” -Rebecca B via YELP (FIVE STAR REVIEW)

“Local, community minded theater with hefty talent. Amazing experience taking my daughter to her first small theater experience at their production of Pinocchio. Super cozy. Be sure to get there 1/2 hour ahead to chill in their inviting lobby area.” – Choong W. Lee via Facebook (FIVE STAR REVIEW)

“Amazing performance tonight!! My family loved Pinocchio, so fun and inspiring!!!!! Beautiful show…” Theresa Buffo via Facebook (FIVE STAR REVIEW)
